The Jazz Institute of Chicago in partnership with Make Music Chicago presents Jazz Links Fellows Camila Mennitte Pereyra and Lenard Simpson in concert.

The Jazz Links Fellowship Program (JLF) offers opportunities to learn on-the-job with JIC mentors and perform across the city in communities underserved by the arts. JLF is supported by the Andrew Mellon Foundation.

Drummer, composer, and educator Camila Mennitte Pereyra, was born and raised in Córdoba, Argentina, and currently resides in Chicago. Camila moved to the States in 2014 to pursue her Bachelors in music at UW-Eau Claire and then went on to pursue her Masters at Indiana University. Shortly after moving to Chicago, Camila was selected to be a part of the JIC Links Fellowship Program.

Lenard Simpson is a saxophonist, composer, and educator from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After completing high school, Lenard went on to pursue a bachelor's in Jazz Performance at Northern Illinois University. In 2018, Lenard was selected by a panel of Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, James Newton, and Ambrose Akinmusire to be a Thelonious Monk Institute fellow. After finishing his master’s degree at the renamed Herbie Hancock Institute, Lenard moved to Chicago where he remains an active performer and educator.
