Members of the Jazz Links Student Council are also eligible for the NextGenJazz Emerging Artists Project.
The Emerging Artists Project promotes leadership, creativity, and a foundation for self-marketing by working with participants to develop skills necessary to lead their own ensembles, create an online presence, and promote and manage their own gigs and shows.
ABOUT ANTHONY RODRIGUEZ
Anthony Rodriguez a Alto Saxophonist and Clarinetist was apart of the Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School Jazz Band from the years 2017-2021. Anthony also was apart of the Griffin Institute of Performing Arts since 2019 and continues to work under that program. In 2019, Anthony received the District’s Most Valuable Player Award .In 2019, 2021 and 2022 Anthony attended the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra Youth Ensemble Band Camp. Anthony has also been apart of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra Youth Ensemble Saturday Jazz Academy since 2021. After receiving the Kiewit Wang Scholarship in 2022, Anthony then joined the Chicago Jazz Institute Student Council. In 2022 Anthony also joined the Prairie State College Community Concert Band. Anthony has also studied with Dr. Roosevelt Griffin since 2016 and continues to work with him to this day on his doubles and other techniques for a jazz ensemble, improvisation and more. Anthony also took lessons with Brent Griffin Jr. from September of 2021 to May of 2022, and resumed his lessons in November of 2022 and is currently still learning from Brent Griffin Jr. new techniques, improvisational skills and more about the language of jazz.
