The Soul of Jazz: The African Tribute to James Brown

We’re celebrating 40 years of the Jazz Institute and a Chicago treasure: our esteemed Vice President, Mr. Timuel Black with a special concert that will ignite your soul, and move your feet. Celebrate the connection between the roots of jazz and the Godfather of soul with James Brown horn - men Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis and jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, joined by African musicians inspired by the late great JB: Senegalese vocalist Cheikh Lo and Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Toure.
