Jazz Institute of Chicago

The Business of Jazz

The Jazz Institute of Chicago, the PianoForte Foundation, the Consulate General of the Netherlands and the Dutch Chicago Business Exchange present:

“The Business of Jazz”

What have Jazz & Business in common? If you really think about it… EVERYTHING. The challenges confronting the Jazz and Business worlds are surprisingly similar. In a panel discussion we would like to highlight the challenges the Jazz business as a whole faces and how they are being addressed.

What better to hear it directly from Artists, Club owners, and Record companies? Represenatives from Chicago and the Netherlands will freely discuss the challenges and opportunities!

The panel discussion will be moderated by Neil Tesser, journalist and broadcaster.

The Panel Members are:

- Michiel Borstlap, pianist and composer (Netherlands)
- Lauren Deutsch, Executive Director of the Jazz Institute of Chicago
- Mike Reed, drummer and presenter
- T.S. Galloway, trombonist and composer

The panel discussion will be followed by a performance of one of Europe’s most successful Jazz musicians, pianist Michiel Borstlap with his trio, after which the evening will be concluded with a reception.
