Jazz legend, innovator, and master drummer and percussionist Max Roach has passed away at the age of 83.
One of the most important drummers and musicians in jazz history, he will be dearly missed by jazz fans all over the world.

Growing up in Chicago I had an opportunity to take drum lessons at the Afro-Arts Theatre. I heard about Max Roach before I knew what Jazz was. I later discoverd his importance to development of this great American music.
