The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the winners of the 2008 Jazz Awards, the non-profit professional organization's 12th annual celebration of excellence in jazz and jazz journalism, and induction of an "A Team" of activists, advocates, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz.
This year's winners include board members Nicole Mitchell, who was named Flutist of the Year, and Dick Wang who was named to the 'A Team' Activists, made up of advocates, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz. Executive Director Lauren Deutsch was also named an 'A Team' Activist member.
