Previews: The Global Language of Jazz

Two special Jazz Festival preview focus on the contributions of different cultures to the increasingly global nature of jazz.

On Friday August 19, 6-8 PM at the National Museum of Mexican Fine Arts, 1852 W. 19th St., Chicago, IL,  trumpet virtuoso Victor Garcia leads a band with Chicago friends, including Rocky Yera on  tenor & flute, Joaquin Garcia on keyboard, Jose Porcayo on bass and Ernie Adams  on percussion.

On Tuesday August 30, 4:30-6:00 PM at Chinese American Service League (CASL) , 2141 S. Tan Court, Chicago, IL 60616 wil present a preview of Francis Wong’s Shanghai Stories.  Mr Wong is joined by Tatsu Aoki on bass, Yangqin Zhao Yangqin on Chinese dulcimer and Amy Homma on Taiko drums.
