Clif Wallace

Aug 30
12:00 pm
Von Freeman Pavilion

A native of Fort Wayne, drummer Clif Wallace has played in all kinds of bands since his undergraduate days at North Carolina Central University and in Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program. He made his early mark on record playing on Carolina bassist John Brown’s Top 40 hit, “Merry Christmas, Baby;” Chicago Quartet (2010), by Polish saxophonist Marcin Zupanski, and People Calling (2012), by Chicago saxophonist Dudley Owens and New York bassist Aaron Wright.

Wallace’s nimbly grooving Chicago quintet features pianist and AACM standout Justin Dillard, also known for his organ work; trumpeter Justin Copeland; alto and tenor saxophonist Brent Griffin Jr.; and bassist Christian Dillingham. They’ll do their best to bring a merry good time to Labor Day weekend.
