Hamilton Park, 513 W. 72nd St.

PLEASE NOTE: Recommended for ages 13 and up, discretion advised for those who are sensitive to street language

JazzCity presents a reflection on Langston Hughes’ masterwork poem about race relations in the ’60s, Ask Your Mama: Twelve Moods for Jazz    This original musical illustrates the trials and resilience of the human spirit and its roots in community.  Writer, performer, and singer Marvin Tate collaborates with composers Greg Ward and Ben LaMar Gay to integrate music, song, dance, poetry, storytelling, and film to intertwine Hughes’ vision with Tate’s own personal journey of growing up in a post-civil rights Chicago.
