Join the Jazz Institute of Chicago and the Cliff Dwellers for Jazz at the Cliff featuring the Michael Nearpass Trio (Michael Nearpass , trombone; Dan Pierson, piano; Michael Harmon, bass). Evening includes cash bar and dinner buffet (reservations required).


Cover Charge: $10. Tickets available on the night of the performance at the door. $7 JIC Members with membership card

About Michael Nearpass

An accomplished trombonist, Michael Nearpass maintains an active performance schedule in the Chicago area, where he appears with an eclectic range of ensembles spanning genres from jazz and classical music to pop and funk. In 2012, he was named a Ravinia Jazz Fellow and had the honor of participating in the Stein’s Music Institute. As a composer, Michael writes for his own group, the Michael Nearpass Medium Ensemble, as well as for other school and professional ensembles. A number of his charts for large jazz ensemble are published through the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Press. Michael has been a finalist for the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award and his compositions have been recognized in DownBeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards.

Michael graduated from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and currently works as the Education Associate for the Jazz Institute of Chicago.



Discounted parking is available at $13 for up to 6 hours, after 4 p.m. at the garage on the southwest corner of Adams and Wabash, must enter on the Adams side.  Guests can get discount parking voucher when they pay their admission at cover at the Cliff Dwellers.
