Executive Director, Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts
Over the last 25 years, Bill Michel, has played an active arts leadership role at the University of Chicago. Bill currently serves as Executive Director of UChicago Arts and the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts. Over the last several years, Bill has worked closely with the Department of Music, University of Chicago Presents, the Jazz Institute of Chicago, the Hyde Park Jazz Society, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival and other south side and City wide partners to ensure that the Logan Center and the University contribute to the vibrant music scene on the south side. Under his leadership, the Logan Center launched a variety of jazz initiatives, encourages creativity in the next generation through various youth and family programs, and supports a diverse range of artistic practice and presentation. A member of the University’s Arts Steering Committee, Bill leads efforts to encourage creative collaborations across the University and throughout Chicago. Off campus, Bill serves as a member of the Honorary Board for About Face Theatre (having served as a member of the AFT Board for 14 years including 9 years as President). In spring 2015, Bill’s commitment to jazz programming was recognized by the Hyde Park Jazz Festival as their benefit honoree. Bill is a 2008 graduate of the Booth School of Business and a 1992 graduate of the College at the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Politics, Economics, Rhetoric, and Law.
